Club Training: Club training resumes this week. Boherbue Tuesday 6.30 – 7.30 pm and Fridays in Barradubh 6.30 – 7.30 pm. There is no training in Gneeveguilla at the moment., children who did attend training in Gneeveguilla can attend training in either of the other venues. The bus will operate from Gneeveguilla to both other training venues, should you wish to travel by bus contact Tom Joe on 087/ 9339087. In a few weeks we hope to resume training in Gneeveguilla.

St Valentine’s 5K: A new race in Gneeveguilla Ac calendar is St Valentines 5K February 9th in Demense Killarney. The race commences at 11.30 am, The Old Monastry is the race headquarters, the prize giving will be afterwards, with prizes for senior men & ladies, master men and ladies and juveniles. Entry fee is €15.00 for adults reduced fee for juveniles. This race replaces the 4 x 5K which the club use to feature. We are hoping a lot of our schools will participate. We will also promote the Rathmore to Rathmore 4K on March 9th, that will able followed by The Jack O’ Keeffe Road Races on Easter Monday which is a 4 miler. There will be a special prize allocated for all those who will participate in all three events.

Recent Winners: Well done to Saoirse Tompkins who has had many a win recently. Caroline Murphy & Mary O’ Connell won their sections in Beaufort on New Years Day. Robert Purcell & Andrew Purcell were also in fine form recently.

Boherbue Road Race: Well done to Saoirse Tomkins who won the Boherbue Road Race over the Christmas break. Saoirse is one of our up and coming juveniles who is making a name for herself in running.

Club 2018: Gneeveguilla Ac has been awarded the Top Club 2018 at The Munster Masters Track & Field Championships. The presentation ceremony is in Rathkeale, Co Limerick in early February. Great credit is due to our Masters in capturing this award. They have been there and thereabout with a few years now, so well done everybody involved.

Results of the Barradubh 5k… Sat 15th Dec 2018

Around 80 runners turned out for our race in Barradubh on Saturday the 15th of December with 65 in the 5k and 15 in the 2.5k event.

Santa Fun Run: Pride of place this wek goes to the people who braved the savage weather om Saturday last to support the 5K / 2.5K Santa fun Run in Barradubh in aid of St Joseph’s Day Care Centre, Rathmore. All involved were delighted with the response, all proceeds will go to St Josephs Day Care Centre Rathmore. Barradubh Couch to 5K, Gneeveguilla athletic Club, St Josephs day Care Centre and Barradubh Field Committee all came together so successfully to make this event a resounding success. Going forward we hope to make this an annula event. Sincere thanks to anyone who heldped in any way. Wishing you all a vary Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year.

Barradubh 5K run / Walk / Jog: December 15th is the date, next Saturday at 10.00 am registration in Barradubh New Field from 8.45 am. We expect the area to be a hive of activity as we are hosting our first annual 5K fundraiser all in aid of St joseph’s Day Care Centre, Rathmore, a local worthy charity. Everyone is invited to run / jog or walk or just come and cheer along the runners. There is a choice of race 5K or 2.5K which ever you choose to do. Entry fee is €7.00 per adult & €4.00 per child, capped at €12.00 per family. Sponsorship cards are in circulation.

Munster B’s Cross country: Munster B’s were held in Riverstick on Sunday last. Weather conditions were bad, eventhough our runners were not in the medals they ran their best. Those from the club competing were Paddy & Rachel Hickey, Kate Culloty,& Claragh O’ Connor. The club wishes to thank Shelia O’ Donoghue, Michael Culloty & Der O’ Connor for looking after the competitors.

Santa Fun Run / Walk: Barradubh new field is the venue, December 15th is the date at 10.00 am, all in aid of St Joseph’s Day Care centre Rathmore. Do come along in your Christmas wear and create an atmosphere all for a worthy cause. Entries from 9.00 am.
