Amy Cronin takes Double Gold at Munster U23 Championships

Congratulations to club member Amy Cronin who won two Gold medals at the Munster Junior & Under-23 Track & Field Championships which were held in Waterford on Saturday the 22nd of April 2017.

Kerry Athletics Awards Night

The Kerry Athletics Awards Night was held recently to recognise the achievement of the counties athletes in 2016. The following club members were amongst the recipients…


Shona also won a Silver medal recently when she finished 2nd in the U18 1500m at the National Indoor Championships in Athlone.

Murphy Glencollins Upper & Jimmy Coffey Scartaglin.  Bonus not won, numbers drawn were 3, 17, 20 & 21.  Next week’s jackpot €5,200 , plus €1,000 bonus.  This week’s lotto draw will be held on Thursday night at 11.00 pm.

Kerry Colleges Track & Field:  Held in Riocht on Thursday, Gary Cronin won the senior 100m & 400m, Shona O’ Brien won the Intermediate 800m, Jack O’ Leary won the minor 300m and was 3rd in 1500m, Ben Murphy was 2nd in 1500m minor, Dara Moriarty was very impressive in the 100m minor race.

Irish Intervarsities:  Amy Cronin competed in the 100m, but it was in the relay she shone out taking a bronze medal with the college. Website

Leestrand 5K & 10Miler:  Held in Castleisland on Sunday last, Robert Purcell won the Junior 5K.

Upcoming Events:  Good Friday at 4.00 pm in Riocht, Kerry County Track & Field Championships for Junior, Senior & Masters.  Do support this.  Easter Monday The Jack O’ Keeffe Juvenile  Races in Kiskeam at 12.30, registration in Hall from 11.30, the 4 mile Road Race is on at 2.00 pm Registration from 12.30 pm.  All ages are catered for in both Juvenile races & Road Race. Sunday April 23rd Gneeveguilla AC Open Sports in Riocht Track at 1.00 pm.  Some 6 individual events plus relays for boys & girls U9, U11 & U13.  We have also added in  an U10 relay.

National Indoor Finals: Danielle O’ Riordan was our only club member participating at the National Indoor finals in Athlone. Danielle performed very well on the day and eventhough did not get into the medals she will gain invaluable experience that will help her along during the season.

Munster Roads: Held in Currow on Sunday last, John Guerin, John Barrett, Robert Purcell, Siobhan Daly & Caroline Murphy competed.

Kerry Colleges Track & Field: this competition will be held in Roicht on Thursday.

Lee Strand 5K & 10 miler: This race is on in Riocht on Sunday April 9th.

Jack O’ Keeffe Road Race & Juvenile Races: On in Kiskeam on Easter Monday April 17th.

Gneeveguilla AC Open Sports: Will be held in Riocht on Sunday April 24th.

Notice…Boherbue to Kiskeam 4 mile race – Mon 17th April 2017

The annual Jack O’Keeffe Festival of Road Races is coming up in Kiskeam on Easter Monday the 17th of April 2017. It includes a 4 mile race from Boherbue to Kiskeam at 2pm.

AAI Indoor Championships: In one of the best results we are likely to home this year is Shona O’ Brien’s 2nd place finish in the 1500m Indoor Championships national Finals in Athlone on Sunday last. An excellent result and a very bright future. Gary Cronin also took part in the 400M and ran well.

County Road Championships: Held in Beaufort on Sunday last Robert Purcell & John Barrett won their sections. Dan Culloty running his first race with the club was very iimpressive. Andrew Purcell was 3rd Junior, Mary O’ Shea won O40, Mellissa Culloty was 3rd O35.

Training: Midddle Distance Training is on in Boherbue Comprehensive School Field Tuesday nights at 6.30 pm.

Jack O’ Keeffe Road Race: Easter Monday in Kiskeam at 2.00 pm. Registration in Kiskeam Community Centre. Juvenile road races at 12 noon
