School Sports: The qualifiers for the Kerry County School Sports will be held on Sunday 22nd at 1.00 pm in Knocknagree GAA pitch. National school children from 1st class to 6th will be qualifying for County competition, we will run races for junior infants, senior infants, tiny tots and race for secondary school children. Along with races there will be turbo javelin for 1st & 2nd, long jump for 3td and 4th ,and shot for 6th class. Leaflets have been handed into all schools.

Commmunity Games: Jack O’ Leary was a member of community games U14 mixed distance relay team which came 6th in Abbotstown, Co Dublin on Saturday last.

Thanks to Jack O’ Keeffe & his wife for their generous sponsorship, thanks to caterers Gala Gneeveguilla & Catherine O’ Riordan Riocht Kitchen. Tim Nelligan of Riocht also deserves a word of thanks. Our club workers ran both of these events without a hitch, it would be hard to find a club who can boast of such. School Sports: Area qualifiers for school sports will be held in Knocknagree GAA grounds on Sunday May 21st at 1.00 pm. All children from 1st to 6th class can take part. Those that qualify will represent this district at the Kerry School Sports competition which will be held in Riocht in early June. Flyers will be circulated to all schools in the coming weeks. We will also hold races for the younger age groups and tiny tots.

Community Games Area Qualifiers: For children in Rathmore & Gneeveguilla Area, qualifiers will be held on Sunday next in gneeveguilla GAA Grounds at 1.00 pm. Those children that qualify will represent their area at the Kerry County Community Games sports which will be held at the ned of June.

Limerick Marathon: Well done to Seamus Murphy won a gold medal in the over
45 category at the Limerick marathon last weekend.

Munster Junior & U23 Championships: Congratulations to Amy Cronin, Tomas O’ Neill & Andrew McCarthy who were among the medal winners at the Munster Junior & U23 Championships in Waterford at the week-end.

Universitites: Another great result from this competition with Mairead O’ Neill winning the hammer throwing over 50M.

Kerry Junior, Senior & Master Championships; Mairead O’ Neill throwing just under 50M in the Hammer won her category – three wins in a week for Mairead, we are sure Mairead has a very successful summer to look forward to.

Munster Road Championships: Held in Currow April 2nd Robert Purcell won the o45.

Open Sports: Club Open sports are on in Riocht on Sunday next April 23rd at 1.00 sharp, There are events from Tiny Tots upwards. Hoping to see a big turnout. €4 entry fee per child which also covers relay entry, relays are boys and girls U9, U10, U11 & U13. Great prizes.

Training: Once school reopens training is back up and running Gneeveguilla Mondays at 7.30pm, Boherbue, Tuesady at 6.30 pm, Barradubh Friday at 6.30 pm. Note there is specials middle distance training in Boherbue on Tuesday evenings at 6.30 pm. Those interested in 800m and upwards should attend.

Best wishes: to Patrick Warren, Donal O’ Sullivan & Christopher O’ Donoghue who all played with Kerry minors on Wednesday last. All were club athletes, easy to see the Athletic training shining out in them. Hope they go on to win the final. Not forgetting two other club members Dara Moynihan Ballydesmond & Sean Meehan Kiskeam who are part of the Cork Minor team.

Amy Cronin takes Double Gold at Munster U23 Championships

Congratulations to club member Amy Cronin who won two Gold medals at the Munster Junior & Under-23 Track & Field Championships which were held in Waterford on Saturday the 22nd of April 2017.

Kerry Colleges Track & Field:  Held in Riocht on Thursday, Gary Cronin won the senior 100m & 400m, Shona O’ Brien won the Intermediate 800m, Jack O’ Leary won the minor 300m and was 3rd in 1500m, Ben Murphy was 2nd in 1500m minor, Dara Moriarty was very impressive in the 100m minor race.

Irish Intervarsities:  Amy Cronin competed in the 100m, but it was in the relay she shone out taking a bronze medal with the college. Website

Leestrand 5K & 10Miler:  Held in Castleisland on Sunday last, Robert Purcell won the Junior 5K.

Upcoming Events:  Good Friday at 4.00 pm in Riocht, Kerry County Track & Field Championships for Junior, Senior & Masters.  Do support this.  Easter Monday The Jack O’ Keeffe Juvenile  Races in Kiskeam at 12.30, registration in Hall from 11.30, the 4 mile Road Race is on at 2.00 pm Registration from 12.30 pm.  All ages are catered for in both Juvenile races & Road Race. Sunday April 23rd Gneeveguilla AC Open Sports in Riocht Track at 1.00 pm.  Some 6 individual events plus relays for boys & girls U9, U11 & U13.  We have also added in  an U10 relay.
